PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical light source including a controlled excitation state for the purpose of improving consistency of fiber attenuation measurement for an optical network test and measurement application.SOLUTION: For achieving a specific excitation state, a double-wavelength coupler (LED) 16 at 850 nm and 1300 nm is connected with a step index fiber 18, and a predictable mode distribution is excited, thereby reducing variation between the light sources. The device includes an adjustable fiber bending/deformation device capable of adjusting the device so as to accurately control a multi-mode excitation state, and is further provided with both an LED light source and an OTDR/laser implementation. |
