The present invention relates to a reception device, a reception method, and a program that make it possible to achieve a channel scan and tuning processing from a DVB-T2 broadcast signal at a high speed and in an efficient manner. A P1 detection unit (16) receives a signal that complies with the DVB-T2 standard, and provides a P1 symbol that serves as a header to a P1 interpreting unit (21). From the P1 symbol, the P1 interpreting unit (21) interprets a signal (S1) that indicates a profile and a signal (S2) that indicates whether there are a plurality of profiles that are mixed together, and provides the results to a driver (22). When it is clear on the basis of the signal (S2) that there are a plurality of profiles that are mixed together, the driver (22) issues a command to the P1 detection unit (16) to demodulate the signal such that each of the plurality of profiles is designated as a profile that is a target for processing. In response to this command, the P1 detection unit (16) controls a transmission unit (17) so that, from among the signals (S1) that are supplied by the P1 interpreting unit (21), the signals that are designated as a profile for processing are sent to an OFDM demodulation unit (18).
