PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved control moment gyroscopes (CMGs), and a method for fabricating the CMGs.SOLUTION: A CMG 20 includes a stator housing 56, an inner gimbal assembly (IGA 24), and a torque motor 58 coupled to the stator housing 56. The IGA 24 includes: a rotor support structure 28 rotatably coupled to the stator housing 56; a CMG rotor 22 rotatably installed in the rotor support structure 28; and a spin motor 48, 50 coupled to the rotor support structure 28 and configured to rotate the CMG rotor 22 about a spin axis 52. The CMG rotor 22 includes a rotor shaft 34, a rotor rim 72 surrounding the rotor shaft 34, and a plurality of radially-compliant spokes 74 extending between the rotor shaft 34 and the rotor rim 72. Each of the spokes 74 includes a tensile strain relief feature structure. |
