PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle steering angle detection device capable of more accurately detecting the absolute steering angle of a steering mechanism, and an electric power steering device equipped with the same.SOLUTION: When an ignition switch is turned off, an immediately-previous absolute steering angle detected value &phgr;a is stored in a nonvolatile memory 19 as an absolute steering angle stored value &phgr;am and an immediately-previous CAN relative steering angle &phgr;rc is stored in the nonvolatile memory 19 as a relative steering angle stored value &phgr;rm. When the ignition switch is turned on, a value obtained by correcting the absolute steering angle stored value &phgr;am using the size of the angle by which steering is performed from a time when the ignition switch is turned off until a time when it is turned on (the difference between the relative steering angle stored value &phgr;rm and the CAN relative steering angle &phgr;rc) is set as the initial value for the absolute steering angle. A provisional absolute steering angle computed value &phgr;ap is computed on the basis of the relative steering angle &phgr;rc using the initial value of the absolute steering angle as a reference. |
