PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion vector generation device capable of generating a motion vector in which deviation of the detection position of a motion vector from an interpolation position is corrected.SOLUTION: A motion vector detection unit 2 detects a motion vector V1 by using a current frame f0 or a past frame f1 as a frame of search criteria. A motion vector correction unit 3 detects whether or not there is a motion vector V1, in the direction passing through a block of interest in an interpolation frame, within the search range region of the frame of search criteria thus detecting distribution of the motion vector V1 within the search range region. The motion vector correction unit 3 weights the difference value based on these detection results, and determines the difference value thus weighted as a correlation value. The motion vector correction unit 3 corrects the motion vector V1 based on the correlation value, and outputs the corrected motion vector V1 as a motion vector V2. |
