PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a bill conveyance mechanism by shortening a bill conveyance path as much as possible, and to miniaturize an apparatus.SOLUTION: A bill handling apparatus comprises: a first conveying path of a loop shape which includes a bill determining unit, is connected with a bill receiving and dispensing port and a temporary storage unit as well as a plurality of bill storing boxes, and conveys bills bi-directionally; a second conveying path which is connected with a loading box and conveys the bill bi-directionally; a first gate which connects the first conveying path and the second conveying path and switches a conveying direction of the conveying path which conveys the bills; and a controlling part which controls at least switching of the first gate and conveyance of the conveying paths. The controlling part controls to convey the bill conveyed from either of both directions of the first conveying path to the loading box through the second conveying path via the first gate, and to convey the bill conveyed through the second conveying path from the loading box to either of both directions of the first conveying path via the first gate. |
