In order to determine free states in a highly accurate manner with a simpler mechanism, this vehicle position detection device stores various values captured by vehicle information about the state of an automobile; and conditional probability information that associates matching conditional probabilities in which the aforementioned values are generated in matching states, and free conditional probabilities in which the aforementioned values are generated in free states. Moreover, the conditional probability information is used to acquire matching conditional probabilities and free conditional probabilities, which correspond to values of the acquired vehicle information, and a probability index for matching states and a probability index for free states are calculated on the basis of the conditional probabilities. A determination is then made as to which state to select on the basis of the probability index for the matching states and the probability index for the free states. |
