The wheel (1) has a green phosphor part (3a) provided for emission of conversion light of a color and another green phosphor part (4) provided for emission of the conversion light of another color. The phosphor parts are spatially separated from each other and arranged on the wheel, where the light of the latter phosphor part exhibits same tint as the light of the former phosphor part. The color of the latter phosphor is removed in a CIE standard color system for an amount of less than 0.2 in an x-direction and a y-direction from the color of the former phosphor part. The wheel comprises LED light sources. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a phosphor wheel.
