PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new Fe-Cr alloy utilizing the features, such as a sigma phase (&sgr;phase), heat resistance, and oxidation resistance, of a high-Cr-containing Fe-Cr alloy.SOLUTION: An Fe-Cr alloy having Fe and Cr as the principal components and having a &sgr; phase only on the surface is provided. The Fe-Cr alloy satisfies x/(x+y) of 0.26-0.75 (wherein x is the molar fraction of Cr, and y is the molar fraction of Fe), has a surface &sgr;phase thickness is 200 μm or less from the surface, and has a surface hardness of 450 Hv or more. A method for producing an Fe-Cr alloy comprising heat-treating an Fe-Cr alloy having Fe and Cr as the principal components and satisfying x/(x+y) of 0.47-0.75 (wherein x is the molar fraction of Cr, and y is he molar fraction of Fe) to form a &sgr; phase on the surface is provided. |
