PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a fuel cell power generation device in which deterioration due to oxidation and dissolution caused by increased anode and cathode potentials in starting up and stopping is suppressed, so that durability is improved; and an operation method of the fuel cell power generation device.SOLUTION: A fuel cell 5 includes an electrolyte 1, a pair of electrodes 4a and 4c, and a pair of separators 7a and 7c. When a fuel cell system including the fuel cell is stopped, shut off valves 57 and 58 in an oxidant gas passage are closed, and the inflow and exhaust of the oxidant gas are stopped, and thereafter, shut off valves 49 and 51 in a fuel gas passage are closed, so that potential of the electrodes is maintained at a low level. Accordingly, deterioration due to oxidation and dissolution is suppressed, so that the durability of the fuel cell system is improved. |
