PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indicator for vehicle for automatically determining whether a pointer has abnormality in rotation or not.SOLUTION: A pointer 20 indicates a vehicle condition value according to a rotation position between a zero position P0 and a maximum position Pmax. A step motor M rotationally drives the pointer 20 due to that a drive signal corresponding to an electric angle is applied to field coils 32, 33. A control unit 50 for controlling the electric angle of the drive signal applied to the filed coils 32, 33 executes an away-from-zero control for changing the electric angle so as to rotate the pointer 20 from the zero position P0 to the maximum position Pmax, and determines whether the pointer 20 has abnormality in rotation or not based on the electric angle when the stop of the pointer 20 is detected during the away-from-zero control. |
