The valve (10) has a liquid channel (50) closed by a ball (20), so that fluid e.g. liquid, is prevented from flowing through the liquid channel. The ball is made of cobalt stabilized tungsten carbide material. A region (80) of the liquid channel abutting with the ball is made of ceramic material. The ball is pushed against the liquid channel by a spring (40) to close the valve. The spring is supported in a housing portion (60), which is attached to a valve seat (30). The housing portion and the valve seat are surrounded and supported by another housing portion (70).
