The method involves providing a raw lid with a circular lid bottom surface (10) and an inner surface, where the raw lid is provided with embossments or seams. A score line (15) is inserted on the bottom surface. A drinking opening of a can lid (1) is opened along the score line by handling an opening element (30) by a user. A printing region (40) of the bottom surface is printed in a pad printing method by a deformable plunger. The can lid is aligned such that the plunger has a preset position to the score line during printing. The score line is printed by a colored corrosion protection paint. The opening element is a flap. An independent claim is also included for a can lid.
