The method involves analyzing whether a sub-optimal vehicle condition is occurred (400) based on detected and stored vehicle conditions and driver inputs. Determination is made whether the sub-optimal vehicle condition is preventable or eliminatable in an existing vehicle system i.e. adaptive cruise control (ACC) system, of a vehicle and the driver had not occupied the vehicle before the sub-optimal vehicle condition. Information about the respective vehicle system is output (500) in an event of determination that the sub-optimal vehicle condition is preventable or eliminatable. An independent claim is also included for a device for supporting a driver of a vehicle.
