PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for control of a showcase, capable of suppressing cooling failure due to frost adhering to an evaporator to thereby prevent deterioration of commodities.SOLUTION: A control device 5 of a showcase includes a regular drive unit 11 for regularly driving a defrosting heater 2c for performing defrosting to an evaporator 2b in a showcase 2, a setting unit 5c for setting a date and time at regular intervals, and a temporary drive unit 12 for temporarily driving the defrosting heater 2c at the date and time at regular intervals that are set by the setting unit 5c.
