PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection circuit and method that protect electronic systems against various postulated worst-case scenarios while allowing the electronic systems to operate with the maximum precision.SOLUTION: A high precision clipping regulator circuit includes a first protection diode 102, a second protection diode 104, a first offset clamp voltage regulator 106, and a second offset clamp voltage regulator 108. The first protection diode is configured to conduct when an electric potential exceeds a first protection voltage magnitude. The second protection diode is configured to conduct when an electric potential exceeds a second protection voltage magnitude. A first offset clamp voltage regulator circuit and a second offset clamp voltage regulator circuit are configured to vary the first and second variable offset clamp voltages such that the voltage difference between the two ends of each protection diode remains substantially constant. |
