The device (1) has a suspension cylinder (2) comprising suspension stages (A, B) that are formed as a main cylinder (8) and an additional cylinder (10), respectively. An additional piston (26) is guided in the additional cylinder, and has an additional piston rod (28), where an elastic force (p2) is applied to the additional cylinder. The piston is indirectly loaded with the force over a pneumatic pressure medium (DM) such that peripheral seals (38) arranged between the additional cylinder and the piston are separated from the pressure medium by a hydraulic medium (HM).
