摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obscure an unlit defect in an organic EL display device. <P>SOLUTION: The conventional one pixel is divided to a plurality of regions, and each of the regions is provided with an organic EL element 127_k. The source of a driving transistor 121 is connected to the organic EL element 127_k by interposing an on-off controllable SW transistor 128_k. The SW transistor 128_k is driven by time sharing in a light emission period without performing inspection or repair of the unlit defect. Even if there is the organic EL element 127 becoming the unlit defect during ON of the SW transistor 128_k, the divided pixels used for light emission are used by time sharing and therefore, the fact that the one pixel becomes the unlit defect completely does not substantially occur. As a whole of a pixel array section 102, the unlit defect position is not fixed and can fluctuate, and is, therefore, averaged in time and space and the visibility of the unlit defect can be more reduced. This effect for the unlit defect can be obtained regardless of the number thereof, and therefore, a high yield can be expected, and there is no need for inspection/repair of the unlit defect, and a manufacturing cost can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
