<p>A driver and passengers transportation active posturing seat system includes a twist-tilt-lean human machine interface (HMI) sub-system enabled by articulating seat sections (21, fig 3a) and active seat support surfaces. The seat has back and seat surface sections with an array of chambers 14, 15, 16, 17 that proactively and/or reactively change seat angle and position to adapt to different sized occupants. The seat sections and support surfaces are further adapted to provide impact protection through the active support surfaces in response to a vehicle collision or other event. The seat system also includes semi-automatic seatbelt deployment (92, fig 9a) and a variable lumber headrest 55. In other aspects, the invention provides a mechanically coupled seat suspension sub-system, a fluidically coupled surface chamber sub-system and an intuitive twist-tilt-lean HMI vehicle acceleration, braking and steering system.</p> |
