<p>379,690. Road surface signs. LLEWELLYN, A. M., 3, Ossington Street, London. April 23, 1931, No. 12005. [Class 3 (ii).] A plate for road surface signs has an effective surface formed of plain or coloured vitreous or other material, which is protected by a plurality of studs or like projections. The Figure shows a studded plate 6 secured by screws 12 to a recessed support 7 permanently embedded in the road surface by means of barbed projections 9, the support 7 being made to slant slightly if desired for increased visibility. Alternatively the plate may be screwed to a U-shaped member embedded in the road surface. Smaller plates may be attached by a single screw to a barbed member entering the road surface, or may be screwed directly to the surface by means of suitable plugs ; alternatively they may be formed integrally with the supporting means, which may comprise pointed and apertured webs. According to the Provisional Specification vitreous enamel may be placed on a perforated plate through which the studs protrude. Specification 276,796, [Class 107, Roads &c.], is referred to.</p> |
