The ranging drive has a fastening unit (5) for fixing at the trailer, and a carrier (3) movable relative to the fastening unit. A drive motor (1) is provided, which is held from the carrier. A drive roller (2) is provided, which is rotationally driven by the drive motor. The rotational axis (1a) of the drive motor runs in an angle oblique to the rotational axis (2a) of the drive roller. The angle between the drive motor rotational axis and the drive roller rotational axis is greater than zero degree, such that the rotational axes are not parallel to each other.
