<p>A masking kit for the protection of elements of a fully inflated tyred wheel when the wheel e.g. hub of the wheel is being painted. The masking kit comprises an open annulus mask 60 made from a flexible material 62 that has a stiffened inner rim 64 for masking the tyre of a fully inflated tyre of a wheel; and a hollow cylindrical cover (fig 2, 3) that is closed at one end to cover the valve of the inflated tyre. In use the inner rim 64 is tucked under the rim of the tyred wheel, and the flexible material 62 of the open annular mask 60 extends outwardly from the rim of the wheel to cover the tyre, the open ends 66, 68 of the mask may overlap. The stiffening rim 64 is preferably reinforced by a strip or strips of reinforced material such as plastic or cardboard, the stiffened rim may also be segmented, and have adhesive strips. The open annulus mask may be made from paint absorbent, adherent or impervious flexible material; and the paintable outer layer of the open annulus mask may have one or more peelable layers.</p> |
