The present invention relates to a technique for providing a shareable user-defined channel for broadcast subscribers by a digital set-top box using an electronic program guide provided through digital broadcasting and, more specifically, to a technique for providing a sharable user-defined channel for broadcasting subscribers using an electronic program guide in order to completely satisfy demands of each broadcasting service subscriber (user) such as personal program tastes, channel preferences, etc. in a uniformly provided digital broadcasting service. According to the present invention, the technique comprises the following steps: managing keywords which are individually inputted by broadcasting subscribers (users) based on the broadcasting subscribers' interests using an electronic program guide provided through digital broadcasting; and constructing one user-defined channel by gathering at least one broadcasting program (in other words, broadcasting programs belonging to different channels). Therefore, a user can seamlessly watch programs which the user prefers.
