<p>A GUI providing method for inputting handwriting using a pen or a finger on a touch screen and an electronic device using the same are provided. The GUI providing method for an electronic device changes the size of a letter inputted using a pen or a finger on a touch screen of an electronic device to a predefined size regardless of the original size of the inputted letter and displays the size-changed letter in a sentence display position, thereby enabling a user to input a sufficient volume of sentences or text. The electronic device is controlled based on a method capable of providing an extension/subtraction technique to read a sentence and an editing technique to edit a letter at a certain position through a view function. By providing various note techniques available to various kinds of electronic notes, smart notes, and electronic publications, user convenience and readability can be improved and electronic notes can come into wide use.
