Compact coil component suitable for use in power over Ethernet systems

A coil component 10 comprises a base 20 with terminals 30, a core 40 fastened to the base and a coil 50 wound on the core such that a plurality of coil parts are electromagnetically coupled to the core 40. The plurality of coils parts may be integrated into a single compact component and may include a pulse transformer and a common mode filter. The coil component 10 may include a core arrangement with independent magnetic paths which may be formed of different materials. A square framed shaped core may be located around a T-shaped partition core wall. The base 20 may include a surface which conforms to that of the core 40 and at least one coupling protrusion may secure the core 40 to and base 20. Also disclosed is an electronic device comprising: a transceiver and a coil component where the coil component includes a first coil part connected to a transmission port of the transceiver and a second coil part connected to the reception port of the transceiver. Further disclosed is a power over Ethernet system (PoE) comprising: a device powered by a power sourcing equipment device wherein the device or the power sourcing equipment device include a coil component having two pulse transformers formed in a single core.
