<p>The invention relates to a cone penetrometer comprising a substantially tubular main body having a front end and a rear end, a conical nose which is coupled to the front end of the main body. A cylindrical friction sleeve is arranged around part of the main body, in such a manner that the main body and the friction sleeve delimit an annular clearance. A substantially sleeve-shaped force measurement element is accommodated in the clearance, concentrically with the main body and the friction sleeve. As seen in the axial direction, the force measurement element is enclosed only by a stop face which is directed towards the rear and arranged on the friction sleeve and a stop face which is directed towards the front and arranged on the main body.
