Provided is an apparatus for detecting a tool attachment state in a machine tool, capable of detecting a clamp state or an unclamp state of a tool in a spindle, and a non-attachment state of the tool, in which the tool is not attached to the spindle in the machine tool having a draw bar to clamp or unclamp the tool with respect to a front end of the spindle extending in a longitudinal direction. The apparatus for detecting the tool attachment state comprises: a movable member including metal having a magnetic property and fixed to the draw bar to move back and forth; a sensor having an excite coil to generate eddy current in the movable member to detect the electrical characteristic of the excite coil varied depending on the eddy current as the movable member is moved; and a determination unit for determine if the attachment state of the tool is any one of a clamp state, an unclamp state, a non-attachment state of the tool, and an unsettled state of the tool based on the electrical state detected by the sensor. |
