The present invention relates to Boswellia serrata extract having an activity of reducing inflammation caused by uv lights, a cosmetic composition using the Boswellia serrata extract, and a method for preparing the Boswellia serrata extract. The Boswellia serrata extract is prepared by repeating the following procedures: dissolving a Boswellia resin in an organic solvent selected from the group consisting of anhydrous or hydrous lower alcohol having 1-4 carbon atoms, methylethylketone, acetone, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, propylene glycol, and 1,3 butylene glycol; filtering the mixture to remove insoluble materials; removing an organic solvent from the insoluble materials-removed organic solvent extraction fragments; and adding lower fatty acid, which contains some or all selected from formic acid, acetic acid, and propionic acid, to the organic solvent-removed extraction fragment dry matter to concentrate only solved fragments. Therefore, the Boswellia serrata extract consists of fragments containing a desired content of Boswellia acid. The Boswellia serrata extract has an excellent efficacy in suppressing the generation of skin erythema due to exposure to UV lights and mitigating the generated skin erythema. Further, the Boswellia serrata extract can be easily prepared. |
