381,466. Making hinged-lid boxes. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINENFABRIK J. C. MœLLER & CO., 48, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden. Germany. March 9, 1932, No. 7078. Convention date, March 25, 1931. [Class 18.] In making boxes with hinged lids by assembling a body and lid and providing them with an edge binding strip which is cut at three sides so that the lid can be opened about the fourth side as a hinge, the rotating knives k, Fig. 2, which out the binding strip are driven directly from the driving motor a, Fig. 1, so that when other parts of the machine are put out of operation the knives continue to rotate rapidly. As shown the main shaft t of the machine is driven from the motor a through a clutch q and when the shaft is stopped the boxes are moved past the knives by rotating the handwheel n<1>. The heated press for forming the lids is actuated independently of the shaft t by the means described in Specification 381,467, and the operations of forming the body parts, assembling the lids and bodies, attaching the edge binding strips, opening the lids and removing the shaping blocks from the boxes are performed in the manner described in Specification 351,631. |
