The present invention relates to antimicrobial kinocidin peptides comprising a C-terminal portion amino acid sequence of kinocidin, wherein said C-terminal portion comprises an ±-helical secondary structure, wherein said C-terminal portion further comprises antimicrobial activity and a ³ KC core. The present invention further relates to said antimicrobial kinocidin peptides for use in the treatment of infectious diseases.
