Provided are ultraviolet light source and an ultraviolet light-emitting material which does not affect human body and promotes light emitting efficiency, sterilization function, and lifetime. The ultraviolet light-emitting material is represented by empirical formula (A) in which Sc is added as a dopant to Al2O3 which is a parent body. The empirical formula (A): (Al1-xScx)2O3.
