An image based metadata information display method which makes a user conveniently obtain metadata information by changing and displaying the size of a metadata information image according to the passage of time when the metadata information is displayed on an image while the image is displayed through an image output device is disclosed. The disclosed image based metadata information display method comprises; a step which is input installation data of an image code including the metadata information from an image display control part; a step which produces metadata by extracting information on which the user want to provide from an original image in a metadata producing part; a step which changes the produced metadata into an image code in the image code producing part; a step which controls mark position of the image code in the image display control part and controls a mark of the image code and the original image; a step which indicates the original image and the image code according to the control of the image display control part.
