A media access gateway includes a wireless network interface, a tunneling module, a proxy mobility agent module, and an address assignment module. The wireless network interface establishes a link with a wireless terminal. The tunneling module establishes tunnels with first and second local mobility anchors, associated with first and second packet data networks, respectively. The proxy mobility agent module stores a mapping of assigned addresses to local mobility anchor identifiers. The proxy mobility agent selects a first or second local mobility anchor in response to the mapping and a source address of the wireless terminal, and the tunneling module tunnels the packet to the selected local mobility anchor. The address assignment module transmits an address assignment message, which includes the first assigned address and a prefix usage indicator, to the wireless terminal. The first assigned address includes a network-based or client-based mobility address according to the prefix usage indicator. |
