<p>PURPOSE: A composition containing a Saururus chinensis extract or sauchinone and/or 7-hydroxysauchine for preventing or treating vascular diseases is provided to suppress the activity of arginase in vascular cells. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating vascular diseases contains one or more compounds selected among sauchinone of chemical formula 1 and 7-hydroxysauchine of chemical formula 2. The vascular diseases are selected among atherosclerosis, hypertension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, ischemic heart diseases, complications after transluminal coronary angioplasty, cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, and stroke.</p> |
