The present invention discloses a road boundary joint installation structure having a pavement shoulder protection unit and a construction method thereof. The present invention supports a part of an ascon layer as the state in which pushing is prevented by the combination with an expansion stepped unit extended from a concrete pavement layer. Therefore, the present invention prevents differential settlement generated on a boundary portion between the concrete pavement layer and the ascon layer even if the concrete pavement layer and the ascon layer are thermally contracted or expanded. The present invention protects a road main body in which a pavement shoulder is installed by regularly maintaining a gap of a boundary unit between a road and the pavement shoulder and stably secures a side margin and smoothly separates rain water from the road side and drains the wafer rain from the road. The present invention suppresses the settlement of the road boundary unit and prevents the differential settlement of a soil compaction layer which is a lower part of the ascon layer due to the penetration of rain water and prevents the height of the ascon layer from being lowered than the height of the concrete pavement layer or fine cracks from being generated on the inner side of the pavement shoulder and induces safe driving on the road by removing an element interrupting the return when a wheel of a vehicle approaches to the pavement shoulder and rapidly returns in a driving road direction.
