PURPOSE: A reduction method of a rare earth ion doped nanoparticle is provided to easily reduce rare earth ions doped on the nanoparticle at a low temperature using an alkanoic acid based/amine-based mixed solvent, and to rapidly produce the nanoparticle which emits light with various colors by an instant reduction reaction. CONSTITUTION: A reduction method of a rare earth ion doped nanoparticle comprises the following steps: mixing a metal precursor with a solvent, and heat-processing the mixture at 150-300°C for 5-130 minutes to obtain the rare earth ion doped nanoparticle; and stirring an alkanoic acid based/amine-based mixed solvent with the solution from the previous step. An alkanoic acid based solvent is selected from lauric acid, oleic acid, decanoic acid, or palmitic acid. An amine-based solvent is selected from propylamine, butyl amine, octhyl amine, decylamine, dodecylamine, hexadecylamine, or oleoylamine. The alkanoic acid based/amine-based mixed solvent contains the alkanoic acid based solvent and the amine-based solvent in a volume ratio of 1:150-5.
