METHOD OF CONTROLLING A DC-DC CONVERTER IN DISCONTINUOUS MODE

The method involves controlling a NMOS transistor (N1) by a control signal (CK2) for rendering the switch to be conductive and reducing current through an inductor (L) of a converter in one of two phases. A sign of over-voltage on a terminal (Vy) of the inductor is detected. A detection signal is produced in a higher state or lower state based on the detected sign, before detection of a successive cycle. The detection signal is received for adapting duration of the phase in the successive cycle for reversing the current in the inductor at the end of the phase. An independent claim is also included for a direct current-direct current converter for implementing a control method.
