<p>599527 A safety barrier fence is disclosed comprising an elongate rail (6) and uprights (12) secured at an upper end to the rail (6) and at a lower end to a ground anchor (5) offset rearwardly from the racing side of the rail (6). A lower end of the upright (12) is separable from its associated ground anchor (5) in response to an impact load in a direction (38) parallel to the rail (6). An upper end (10) of the upright is pivotally mounted to the rail (6) so that after separation of the upright from its anchor (5) the upright (6) is pivotable about an approximately horizontal axis (24). The upright (6) remains connected to the rail while pivoting about the axis through a defined range of angles. The barrier is suitable for use surrounding horse racing tracks or similar.</p> |
