The present invention relates to medicine and describes methods for the treatment of AA-amyloidosis in a subject suffering from renal impartment. The methods comprise administering a pharmaceutical composition containing 1,3-propanedisulfonic acid and one or more or a pharmaceutically acceptable carriers in a dosage of 400 mg twice daily, 800 mg twice daily or 1200 mg twice daily, for a creatinine clearance rate less than 30, 30-80 or more than 80 ng/ml accordingly. In particular, the methods are provided of stabilizing or improving renal function in a subject or delaying progression of renal disease in a subject or preventing or delaying progression of renal disease to a terminal stage/using dialysis in a subject having AA-amyloidosis or for stabilizing renal function or delaying progression of renal disease in a subject having AA-amyloidosis. |
