[Class 82(ii)] In a method of coating a member 14 with selenium, a vessel 4 containing selenium is heated to such a temperature that the selenium is vapourised and deposited on the member in an atmosphere of carbon dioxide with or without steam. Heating may be electric, e.g. by a coil 6, and carbon dioxide may be introduced through one or a plurality of tubes 15 carried by the side walls 8 of a chamber 1 and terminating close to the top of the vessel 4. The member 14 may be a steel plate having a central hole and be supported by springs 12, depending from a strip 11 carried on a frame 9, co-operating with the hole.</p> |
