A method for merging address books by using a social networking service according to the present invention comprises the following steps: (a) a step of connecting to a social networking service server and requesting profile information of an acquaintance who was registered in a friend list by a user; (b) a step of comparing a phone number of the acquaintance included in an address book of a mobile communication terminal and a phone number of the acquaintance registered in the friend list, and determining whether they are identical; (c) a step of determining whether the name of the acquaintance registered in the address book is similar to the name of the acquaintance registered in the friend list, if the phone number of the acquaintance registered in the address book and the phone number of the acquaintance registered in the friend list are determined to be not identical at the step (b); (d) a step of registering the acquaintance registered in the address book in a collision list, if the name of the acquaintance registered in the address book and the name of the acquaintance registered in the friend list are determined to be similar at the step (c); (e) a step of displaying the collision list, if the comparison of phone numbers or names between all the acquaintances registered in the address book and all the acquaintances registered in the friend list is completed; (f) a step wherein the user selects an acquaintance, who is determined to be the same person as a corresponding acquaintance registered in the collision list, among the acquaintances registered in the friend list; (e) and a step of merging profile information of the acquaintance, who was selected by the user, with acquaintance information of a corresponding acquaintance in the address book.
