The present invention provides a method of manufacturing an elongated circularly polarizing plate provided with an elongated phase difference film having a slow axis in one of the in-plane directions and an elongated polarizing film having an absorption axis in one direction within a range of 25° to 65° with respect to the slow axis direction of the phase difference film, wherein the method of manufacturing an elongated circularly polarizing plate comprises a step (A) of supporting the rear surface of the elongated phase difference film with a first guide roll and a second guide roll arranged further downstream of the first guide roll along the running direction of the elongated phase difference film while running the elongated phase difference film, and applying a rubbing process to the elongated phase difference film by pressing a rubbing roll against the front surface of the elongated phase difference film between the first guide roll and the second guide roll, and a step (B) of forming an elongated polarizing film by applying liquid crystalline solution including a dichroic material to the front surface of the elongated phase difference film subjected to the rubbing process in the step (A) while orienting the dichroic material. |
