In one arrangement, the payment unit includes a payment card reader to participate in a payment communication to obtain payment data, a secondary reader to obtain supplementary data from a machine readable entity that is physically proximate to the unit,the supplementary data being obtained via a communication that is separate from the payment communication,and a controller to operate the payment card reader and secondary reader and to generate a payment record from said payment data and said supplementary data.</p> |
