The device has a cup-shaped base housing (1) including an exhaust nozzle (6), and a burner grid accommodated within the base housing. A burning chamber (U) gasifies biomass to be deposited in the grid, and gas discharge chambers (V, W) are provided below the grid and opened in the exhaust nozzle. Gas is generated from the biomass in a region of the device and flown into the discharge chambers. Arresting units (3, 4) are arranged in the discharge chambers for arresting unburned or partially unburned biomass particles to be penetrated from the burning chamber into the discharge chambers.
