The method involves executing an image processing program by a computing unit (14.m) of a mobile equipment (3.m) e.g. smart phone, where the image processing program is controlled by rules. Single characters in a text block of an image (B.m) are identified by the image processing program to form character recognition results (16.m, 18.m). The text block is identified by the image processing program so that the character recognition results represent a meter reading (ZS.m) of a meter (7.m) in a residential building, where the meter reading is an image content of the text block. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a system for recording and processing an image (2) an image processing program.
