PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble working fluid for a fixed abrasive grain wire saw excellent in lubricity and permeability, and a cutting work method using the same.SOLUTION: A water-soluble working fluid for a fixed abrasive grain wire saw includes at least one compound (A) selected from an acidic phosphate ester and a salt thereof, and at least one compound (B) selected from the group consisting of a monohydric alcohol alkylene oxide adduct (B1), a polyhydric alcohol alkylene oxide adduct (B2), a monoamine alkylene oxide adduct (B3) and a di- to tri-hydric alcohol (B4), and water.
