PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a wheel tip having the possibility of causing a defective product from being used for scribing.SOLUTION: A system performing scribing by relatively moving wheel tips mounted to upper and lower scribing heads while bringing the wheel tips into contact with a brittle material substrate comprises: a means for restoring a management number of the wheel tip from a code obtained by being printed on a tip holder; a means for holding a history of a value of a tip parameter characterizing an operation form of the wheel tip during scribing; and a means for holding recipe data in which the scribing treatment contents and a replacement recommended value about the tip parameter are described. The tip parameter of the wheel tip of the lower head is multiplied by a weighting coefficient k and held in use history data. When the tip parameter exceeds the replacement recommended value if the scribing treatment in accordance with one piece of the recipe data selected through an input means is performed by using the wheel tip in which the code is read, it is reported that the wheel tip is in a replacement recommended state.
