Communication systems, such as the long term evolution (LTE) of the third generation partnership project (3GPP), may benefit from efficient handling of usage event data record (xDR) compression. For example, such xDR compression can be used to reduce load generated by for example data traffic for revenue assurance (RA) and fraud management (FM) systems. A method according to certain embodiments comprises receiving raw network extended data records for at least one of a call or a data stream. The method also comprises compressing the raw network usage event data records. The method further comprises generating as output at least one extended data record corresponding to a plurality of the raw network usage event data records, wherein the one extended data record contains detailed information for a system, for example a fraud management system and/or revenue assurance system.
