PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power supply/demand regulating device and its method employing demand smoothing for smoothing a total demand.SOLUTION: An electric power supply/demand regulating device comprises a consumer information DB which divides consumers into demand pattern groups and stores an electric power usage amount per demand pattern group. It comprises a reduction instruction response DB which stores a reduction rate relative to past reduction instructions of a demand amount per demand pattern group. It comprises an electric power demand amount prediction unit which predicts the electric power demand amount of the consumers when a reduction instruction is issued on the basis of theses DBs. It comprises an electric supply amount calculation unit which calculates an electric power supply amount to a grid on the basis of the electric power usage amount. It comprises an electric power supply difference calculation unit which calculates an excess demand amount from the supply amount calculated by the electric power supply amount calculation unit and the electric power demand amount predicted by the electric power usage amount prediction unit. It comprises a demand regulating unit which regulates the demand amount of each demand pattern group to which a reduction instruction of a demand amount is issued in order to reduce the excess demand amount. It issues a reduction instruction to the consumers so that the electric power amount corresponding to the regulated demand amount will be supplied.
