PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium reader in which the time required for acquiring images on the front and back surfaces of a medium is shortened, while making the body compact and reducing the cost.SOLUTION: When a medium from which images on the front and back surfaces are read is held on a medium holding member 21, one image on the front or back surface of a projected medium is reflected on the reflection surface of a first reflector 22, and an image on the other surface of the projected medium is reflected on the reflection surface of a second reflector 23. Reflection surfaces of the first reflector 22 and the second reflector 23 face an image reading section 3 and are located in a reading area. When the image reading section 3 reads an image in the reading area, one image on the front or back surface of the medium projected to the reflection surface of the first reflector 22, and the other image on the other surface of the medium projected to the reflection surface of the second reflector 23 can be obtained.
